This ought to make you deer hunters mad...

We went fishing on the red river on Saturday...saw a nice large buck on shore...not even the noise of us talking and boat noise scared it. Saw another a little later swim across the river. Then TODAY..a large buck ran across the top of the north landing in Grand Forks...a car almost hit it. As for this fishing? SLOW.

Help me, (a non-hunter) understand.

1.Are there are approx. 85,000 deer hunters or 85,000 licences out there?

2. When you say they 'lease land', do you mean they lease the land so they can hunt on their own 'leased' land? Do they get a special deal on their license by doing this?

I'm asking honest questions, cause I don't understand the situation...enlighten me please!

Well i am sort of wondering out of the 85,000 deer hunrters, how many are going to be from other states. Those out of state bastards seem to not know how to hunt their own land and would rather spend money to come hunt our land. I wonder if very many out of state hunters come for deer hunting or if their land is good enough for that. Or maybe they are flat out broke after spending weeks here waterfall hunting or cannot afford coming here because they speant all there money on leasing land here. Well out of staters talk to me are you coming back for deer hunting.

3 Days:

Link for Fish and Game is up on the front page (homepage)

As for the name of the site....well it USED to be RED RIVER FISHING....and because of popularity....it became RED RIVER VALLEY FISHING.

Now, as for the entire state? Tough call. I've added pages as I've been asked....but I'm not sure what to call the website then...RED RIVER VALLEY AND HILLS AND BADLANDS AND CANADIAN BORDER AND TOM DASCHLE'S BORDER FISHING? Just kidding...

I don't know. I'm not trying to alienate anyone. I've hesitated to concentrate on Bismarck because of the fishingbuddy owners live there... but I've added every lake or river requested of me besides that.

Anyone else out there with a solution to this problem? IS there a problem? AM I missing certain lakes?

Lab Man:

I've thought about putting something up for hunting...the problem is I don't know how to hunt:>) Never went hunting in my life. I've WANTED to...but I never got a chance.

If enough people want me to put up a 'Hunting Talk', AND I can find a moderator, who knows HTML, and can be impartial, then I'll do it.

It's important to me to find a moderator that knows hunting, because his experience will sort the 'facts from lies'. This page is for OPINIONS, and I DON'T want OPINIONS removed...just lies, profanity, personal attacks, threats, etc. If someone is acting stupid, tell 'em. It's a good place to develop a 'thick skin'. But if someone starts acting like a bully, or is threatening, I'll step in...usually by pointing out obvious factual errors, or at worst, I'll delete them and ban them. Nobody is going to get beat up here. Have it out, but have a CLEAN fight.

THIS type of forum is EXACTLY how our country was founded...by hashing out ideas, in a forum where anything can be said, in a GENTLEMANLY-like format.

The best ideas or pursuasions win. That's how we founded our country, and that's how it'll work here.

Of course, I could be wrong....

I'll think about the hunting and something for Bismarck. (The guys that own fishingbuddy live in Bismarck...and that's their territory...I'm not sure they would like me stepping on their toes..)

Please feel free to verbally disagree with me here. I put this page up for discussion and debate and HOT TOPICS... I'm not excluded from the mix, guys....

Well i can see not very many people want to place there opinion on here but i think after time the word will get out but u shouldnt direct it soo much towards the red river valley i know all kinds of people from bis/man who would like this sight but it is sort of directed towards the eastern part of the state. You should also get a direct hit set up to the ND game and fish. Well keep up the good work this sight will come along. takes time

I think this website looks very well but i think alot more people would visit it if you had a For Sale page that seems to be a favorite on fishingbuddy and i think you can makes on better than theirs, like on that your ad stays on for more than a day. Great site and keep making it better for us outdoorsman and me if you want any other suggestions.

I am glad to see a fishingbuddyII that is great i thought of it as a joke but this one seems a lot more towards making coments. I hope that the out of staters find out about this sight to really make it a good battle and isnt sad how they are all home and missed out on the good snow goose hunting in our state, or maybe for a change they decided to hunt in their own state.NO couldnt be then they couldnt show off there money by going hunting in other states. Well glad to see we have a new and better website now and hope everyone else supports this one strong and lets here some talk about hunting boys.

Hot Topics on fishing buddy was the only reason I visited that site. Now that it is gone I have no more need to go there. I just got the sense that if you said anything bad or not in favor of non residents, you were censored out. Since the influx of non residents and commercialism is still rather new I see Fishing buddy scrambling to cater to them. I am dismayed at the direction our state is headed. Heard through the grapevine that the land owners out by Tappen are now charging to hunt. There goes another area that I used to hunt. That makes 2 this year. Anyway, I will be visiting this site for now on and telling my friends about it.

common sense

Don't worry about the 'authorities' showing up. I have access to a lot of places to check facts, and if someone quotes a 'fact' and I find out it's not true....they WILL be exposed.

That WILL make this forum 'HOT'.

The hot topics page is just that and if you don't like the subject matter don't visit it. Laugh at some of the crap and move on, look at it as good humor as I do, lets not be so thin skinned, but keep it clean. I just hope the same old authorities of past don't start here. Wishful thinking, just a matter of time. I hope they will use this site as it is intended. Hope everyone has a great deer opener.

Dave,

that sounds about right.

Look, they're trying to make a profit, that means deciding what IS profitable and what ISN'T.

Perhaps they felt they were 'taking the trash out' once too often? Or Maybe a sponser complained...could be any number of things....the fact is they stopped it, and it's bothering folks who want to sound off. Hey, EVEN I like to sound off every now and then...

But then again, if I trashed every poster on this site....how many people would come back?

Anyway...that's why I spent a great deal of time yesterday putting this page up. NOT to compete, but to ALLOW.

(I'm also pretty bummed the Yankees lost...but that's another story...)

Welcome to the 'Hot Topics' page....

Perhaps the first subject could be...why did fishingbuddy remove their 'hot topics' page?...
